The National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) has circulated a directive from the Federal Ministry of Education concerning admissions into affiliated degree programmes being run by Colleges of Education in affiliation with Universities.
๐ KEY HIGHLIGHTS

End of Fresh Admissions into Affiliated Degree Programmes
With effect from the 2026/2027 Academic Session, Colleges of Education operating affiliated degree programmes will no longer admit fresh candidates into such programmes.

Existing Students Not Affected
Students already admitted into existing affiliated degree programmes will be allowed to complete their studies and graduate accordingly.

Admissions Limited to NCE Programmes
New admissions into Colleges of Education shall be limited to Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programmes.

NCE Remains the Approved Pathway
The NCE qualification remains the approved pathway for progression into degree programmes in line with the Federal Government's teacher education policy.

Dual Mandate Programme Compliance
Eligible Colleges of Education are advised to complete the National Universities Commission (NUC) Resource Verification Exercise under the Dual Mandate Programme to ensure a seamless transition into the approved framework.
