OUR NEW LEADER, OUR NEW MENTOR, OUR NEW SERVANT I, Lawal Bello, Director General of Education Information Society of Nigeria, do not write merely to congratulate you on your appointment as the new JAMB Registrar. Rather, I write to remind you that life has given you an opportunity to add value to your fatherland and write your name in the history of Nigeria. This appointment is not an ordinary celebration. It is a position tied to the future and destiny of millions of Nigerian students. Therefore, beyond congratulations, you deserve prayers. Position and power are not occasions for jubilation; they are calls to service and accountability. History has shown that the same office can either build a reputation or destroy one. Some left as heroes and fathers of integrity, while others left with damaged legacies. Today, all eyes are on you. You are being welcomed not with celebration alone, but with serious prayers because of the weight of the responsibility ahead. This is an opportunity that can transform you into a national hero or become a national lesson. Expect criticism and expect praise. Leadership attracts both supporters and opponents. The number of your critics may multiply, but welcome them all and listen with understanding. The office of JAMB Registrar goes beyond academic knowledge. It requires wisdom, integrity, courage, understanding of the street realities, and fairness because JAMB serves both the rich and the poor. Do not celebrate too early. Let celebration come at the successful completion of your tenure. Today, special recognition also goes to your predecessor, Prof. Isiaq Oloyede, for his service to the nation.
